Whatís Included in the New Databases
The subscription to Academic OneFile and General OneFile includes access to the following InfoTrac Collections:
Academic OneFile: This database contains over 12,000 journals and reference sources, many of which are peer-reviewed and full text. It has extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and more. The database also contains some full text titles that are cited in databases such as AGRICOLA, CINAHL, EconLit, ERIC, MEDLINE, MLA International Bibliography, PsycINFO and others.
General OneFile: This general periodical database contains over 12,000 periodicals, newspapers, reference books and multimedia sources, over half of which are full text. The backfile extends nearly 30 years. Subjects include humanities, education, environmental issues, technology, health care, politics and more.
Health Reference Center Academic: This health database includes over 2800 journals and magazines, many of which are full text. It contains nursing and allied health journals, other medical journals, newsletters and consumer health magazines.
Products were competitively selected to provide the broadest array of desired content for the best value given current resources. Consideration of comments from the field and priority subjects were weighed in the decision.
The selected general periodical offer (Gale) meets the topical needs expressed in user surveys at an affordable cost, while the health database fulfills the fieldís desire for more health content.
Access to Times Inc. and Forbes Inc. Publications
Gale will continue providing indexing to Times Inc. and Forbes publications in General OneFile and/or Academic OneFile and is working to identify ways to link users to the full-text freely available via their websites, when allowed. Full text for Time Inc. publications will continue to be added to Gale databases until January 2011.
See Title Lists for New Databases further down on this page.
The new databases, Academic OneFile, General OneFile, and Health Reference Center Academic will not require new usernames and passwords. The current setup with Gale will be the same. Look here for more information about the URLs for the new databases [added June 16, see URLs for New Databases, below]. Access will be turned on the week of June 14th.
