The Future of NECAT

  • By virtue of the fact that NECAT is so small, getting a broader perspective is sometimes difficult.
  • More representation is needed in terms of library groups:  multiple perspectives from each library type; a segment-driven selection process for the committee.
  • There is a need for a larger Steering Committee role:  testing databases and reporting back to NECAT.
  • Any additional NECAT members need to be aware of confidentiality issues in dealing with vendors.
  • There is the reality of funding and procurement issues:  we don't have a lot of selection and choice.
  • Action Item Ms. Weisman will post the five NOVEL Initiatives separately on the listserv for discussion of each initiative: How was each initiative fulfilled? What else do we need to do?
