Conference Call

Welcome/Approval of Minutes—S. Conrad Weisman

Ms. Weisman welcomed everyone to the meeting. David Fiske will be leaving state service and the Steering Committee. Ms. Weisman, on behalf of the members, extended thanks for his contributions to the committee and wished him well in his future. The minutes of the June 8, 2011 conference call were approved: Pope moved; Santangelo seconded.

Discussion of evaluation process to date - Conrad Weisman and all

The committee discussed encyclopedia and newspaper content for NOVELNY in 2012-13.

Action: Advised State Library staff of recommendations of the committee. State Library will obtain quotes from vendors as appropriate.

Next steps:

Notes from today's meeting will be shared with the entire Steering Committee via email. Members absent from the call will be asked if they have significant disagreement with the conclusions drawn during the conference call. They will be asked to respond by a specific date.

If there are no issues raised on the Steering Committee list, the in-person meeting of the committee scheduled for September 9, 2011 will be canceled. A brief conference call may be held instead, or planned for a later date. The next in-person meeting of the Steering Committee will then be scheduled after the Regents Advisory Council on Libraries releases their report in the fall. The RAC report may inform future NOVELNY program and/or Steering Committee activities.
